IP video door phone and wireless video door phone for
IP video door entry system

IP video door phone and wireless video door phone suitable to be connected by LAN, by WAN
or by public line as the ADSL in a IP video door entry system

Each IP video door phone, as well as all the IP video door entry system made with the ERMES apparatuses, works by using only a standard LAN connection that can share with whichever other system Over IP already installed on such LAN provided that it is an ETHERNET connection with standard features. You can use a LAN made with a copper cable or with an optical fiber as well as you may use a connection made with WiFi access points in order to have a wireless video door phone.

This IP video door phone uses a Peer-To-Peer communication protocol and, consequently, it exploits exclusively the Ethernet LAN for the connection of the apparatuses: each call unit connects itself directly to the LAN and directly establishes a communication with the IP receiver that allows to manage the calls without to need interfaces, servers or other intermediate apparatuses of any type.

This solution makes easy to install an IP video door phone system because you may install, expand and modify the system in very easy way inasmuch it is based exclusively on the use of standalone apparatuses that are connected to the LAN directly with a P2P protocol.
The unique condition that you have to satisfy is that in the place where you wish to install the apparatuses a LAN connection must be present. The IP video door phone can work with all type of LAN that may be made with any technology, included the wireless access points in order to obtain easily a wireless video door phone.

Even though if the IP video door phone produced by ERMES connects itself to the LAN directly, without interfaces, adapters or other intermediary elements nevertheless it is split in two separate and complementary unities for security reasons; in fact, it is more safe that the LAN connection and the contacts that control the opening of the doors are placed in a safe area and not in the external area.
Consequently the parts that make up the video door phone are:

  • the first unity is the user interface where you can find the camera, the microphone, the loudspeaker and the call button with the label-holder for the name; this unity constitutes the part of the IP video door phone available for the user
  • the second part is the unity that connects the LAN and that pilots the user interface; here you can find the relays for the unblocking of the doors or of the gates and the connector for the auxiliary camera that allows you to monitor the area surrounding the video door phone. This unit is made with a box suitable to be fastened on a DIN rail.

This solution allows to connect the cables of the LAN and those of the relays that activate the opening of the doors or of the gates on a unit that can be installed in a safeguarded place that is not available to the incoming visitor and consequently this solution avoid the possibility to sabotage the system.

The body of the IP video door phone is made in stainless steel and it has the aesthetical parts in nylon added with glass fibre so that this IP video door phone is very sturdy and it is suitable to be used in all environments indoor as well as outdoor.
The IP video door phone is available in versions with one or with four call buttons each equipped with a signalling led and a label-holder for the identification of the button. Besides this apparatus is also available in recess-mounting version and in a special version suitable to be used as emergency call box (SOS).

For receiving the calls coming from the IP videophone it is possible to use or the stand-alone receiver in tabletop version (code GateLAN-EV.RDT) or the software GateLAN.SW that must be installed on a PC; in both cases, the devices must have a static IP address. Remember that the PC does not manage the system (it is a P2P system and therefore doesn't require a server) but it is simply a receiver of the calls and, therefore, the software uses the resources of the PC only when a call is in progress. Therefore the PC can be used for other purposes and, consequently, this is the best solution when you wish to fulfill to this function by means of a person that normally carry out other jobs.

The software GateLAN.SW as well as the receiver GateLAN-EV.RDT allows to receive the calls and, besides, allows to activate the three present relays on the IP video door phone that you can use, for instance, in order to control the opening of a door or of a gate; furthermore, this software allows to make the listening of the area near the IP video door phone and it allows to record the calls.

The system can include more than a IP video door phone or more than a wireless video door phone as well as an additional receiver of the calls in how much it is necessary only to have a static IP address that you must associate to each IP video door phone and to each receiver in order to install a new apparatus in the system.

The LAN network can be made in a whichever type of technology (copper, glass fiber. wireless or other) and this is the only one connection that is necessary for the functionality of the IP video door entry system, more than the power supply.

The use of the communication techniques Over IP allows to make in very simple and quick way the installation of the systems in areas with wide dimensions and in all the cases that involve remarkable costs for the layout of a net devoted to the installation of a traditional analog system; in all these cases the techniques Over IP allow to install in simple and economic way an IP video door entry system with an IP video door phone or a wireless video door phone for .
